Sa’diyya is a TEDx speaker, poet, and author of upcoming book Strength from Within, is based on her life born with physical disabilities and deriving strength from the stories of the prophets.
Sa’diyya previously received her Bachelors in English Language & Literature from the University of Hong Kong. She then pursued her Islamic studies from Cambridge Islamic College and wrote for a variety of outlets, including the HuffPost, Panorama: The Journal of Intelligent Travel, MuslimMatters.org, and SISTERs magazine. Her writings tend to focus on the intersection of disability & Islam.
After joining the 2020 Fellowship Program, Sa’diyya also directed ‘Community Care in Islam’ events in the Hong Kong Muslim space, and occasionally speaks at conferences such as Clifford Chance’s APAC 2021 panel for International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Canada’s DEEN support’s ‘Disability & Islam’ Conference, and the global annual ‘Healthy Muslimah Summit’.
Sa’diyya likes sharing her poetry and reflections with the online community. Her life may be an open book through her work, but she is an introvert at heart, that enjoys her free time at the cafe or around nature. Download Chapter 1 of her upcoming book on her official website.
