Rachel is a Program Manager at the CoCoon Foundation aspiring to empower youths to become agents of social change. Through the 2023 Fellowship, she aims to access more resources and support to develop her social justice goal and leadership skills.
Rachel was born and raised in 1997 and shares a deep connection to the rich heritage of this city, Hong Kong that she calls home. Having been exposed to gender stereotypes while studying at a local girls’ school, she understands how it shaped her behavior and self-esteem, and therefore hopes to raise awareness to address different social issues for a more inclusive society.
A passionate changemaker, Rachel is committed to transforming Hong Kong’s education system, integrating diverse perspectives into the curriculum and promoting inclusive school policies. Having previously worked at JUST FEEL, a local NGO that promotes social-emotional learning and non-violent communication in schools between students, teachers and parents, her work is devoted to empowering young individuals with the self-awareness of their feelings and needs and the skills to navigate conflicts. She is currently a Program Manager at the CoCoon Foundation, working to nurture future ready compassionate talents through life and career exploration programs.
Looking forward, Rachel is eager to promote equity and justice in education by sharing the insights gained from her Master’s in Education (Citizenship) at the University College of London, which includes applying human rights principles to achieve equality in education and discussing social issues within classrooms. She joins the Fellowship to develop and refine her 5-year goal and set achievable steps on her leadership journey, specifically in educational settings. She also wishes to share her knowledge on citizenship education and gain valuable insights and resources from other fellows and mentors.
In her spare time, Rachel enjoys engaging in various music activities and participating in self-care activities, such as joining psychodrama, and practicing restorative yoga and mindfulness. She is also an esteemed coffeeholic.
