English teacher Jessie is dedicated to volunteering to support students with special education needs. She also initiated a program”Let Love Lead” to promote dignified aging and advance equality in Hong Kong.
Jessie has been living in Hong Kong for six months now and is still getting to know the city. She is particularly attached to Hong Kong because of the people. She believes there are many opportunities to make a difference by raising awareness about important issues. Although she has faced discrimination because of her ethnicity and race, she has also received a lot of love and admiration. This has inspired her to immerse herself in Hong Kong’s culture, learn more about its people, and make a positive impact, no matter how small.
Jessie is currently a full-time native English teacher at a local secondary school. In addition to her teaching role, she contributes to the community by volunteering at a kindergarten, where she engages with young learners and facilitates their language development. She is also an active volunteer at Heep Hong, an organization that supports primary students with special educational needs (SEN). She is glad to be able to make a positive impact and provide support to students who require additional assistance in their learning journey.
Through awareness courses and a caregiver program, Jessie runs a social impact initiative, “Let Love Lead”, to address social issues and discrimination, and provide support to older adults in Hong Kong, ensuring their wellbeing and companionship.
