Ivan intends to strengthen sexual health services for gender and sexual minorities. He hopes the Fellowship will help him gain more knowledge on health and wellbeing and build his leadership skills. Eventually he wants to create a platform that provides wellbeing support to men who have sex with men and those who engage in sexualized drug use.

After studying public health and seeing how inequity in sexual health awareness and services negatively impacts people of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities, Ivan grew into a voice for communities often sidelined by the public. Born and raised in Hong Kong, he is invested in making sure that nobody is left behind when it comes to accessing fair and comprehensive sexual health services in the city. He envisions an equitable and inclusive Hong Kong where everyone can explore and express their sexuality free of judgment and discrimination.

With these goals in mind, Ivan is currently a program officer at a local charity. His main duties involve coordinating and facilitating the Comprehensive Sexuality Education program, which helps deliver essential information on sexual health to different stakeholders. He also speaks to teenagers in school regarding sexuality and beyond. In addition, he volunteers at various nonprofit organizations to promote sexual health, including Midnight Blue, which aims to build a mutual support network for male and transgender sex workers in Hong Kong. Previously he has been involved in developing a localized health information hub targeting a double marginalized group: men who have sex with men (MSM), and men who practice sexualized drug use. The initiative raised awareness of harm reduction in the community, and also served as a platform for the general public to better understand this neglected community, dispel their misconceptions, and invite them to connect.

Through the Fellowship, Ivan hopes to amplify the impact of existing sexual health equity initiatives after learning from others’ stories. He wants to hone his skills and gain more knowledge to blossom into a changemaker. Driven by his passion, he wants to create an alliance with comprehensive accessible wellbeing resources for MSM engaging in sexualized drug use.

When not working or volunteering, he enjoys watching standup comedy and sketches.
