Currently a Teaching Assistant at CUHK, Fiona aspires to create an age-friendly, supportive environment that empowers older people to maintain their dignity and autonomy.
Growing up in a local grassroot community, Fiona saw firsthand the difficulties faced by the older adults living in poverty. Often resources provided by the government and civil society didn’t reach these people, as many choose to uphold their dignity by making a living on their own.
Having experienced discrimination and isolation at a young age, Fiona now wants to leverage her knowledge and professional skills as a Journalism and Communication major to foster equity and inclusion. During her campus year, Fiona covered stories on politics and social issues as a student journalist, and her articles on human trafficking were published by Hong Kong Free Press and helped NGOs in their advocacies. Passionate about human rights, Fiona envisions herself working as a researcher and activist to find practical solutions, using consistent advocacy and implementing effective interventions.
Fiona joined Resolve’s Fellowship to expose herself to unfamiliar voices and new information about dignified aging. She hopes to meet like-minded peers to work together towards diversity, equity and inclusion.
Besides her work, Fiona is a keen reader and enjoys reportage literature, novels, essays and history books.
