About

Athena Wong

Athena is a special education teacher who believes the first step to achieving inclusion is educating society on what is happening around them. Coming from a humanities background and having worked in fields related to children and disability, she is curious about what society can do to support people with disability as adults and older people.

Athena had the privilege of completing her undergraduate studies in an international environment, where she started to recognize her identity as a global citizen. This made her aware of what problems Hong Kongers have and where she should stand in these issues. Athena is a teacher specializing in special education who aspires to promote real social inclusion for the marginalized in society.

Athena likes meeting diverse backgrounds of people and analyzing the dynamics of interaction between these people and the wider community to look for clues that reinforce or deconstruct some general impression and stereotypes. She wishes to listen to different voices, from first-hand user perspectives to scholarly opinions, and gain hard skills in formulating action plans and holding advocacy campaigns by joining the Fellowship.

Outside work, Athena enjoys watching movies, making desserts, and spending time with friends.
