Opportunity Fund FAQ

What is Participatory Grantmaking (PGM)?

An approach to involve people that come from communities they serve or have lived experience of the issue at hand in the grant decision-making process.

Why PGM?

We’ve adopted a trust-based, community-led approach to empower grassroots leaders and ensure better representation. This creates more opportunities for these leaders to make meaningful contributions. PGM also encourages deeper conversations between communities and philanthropic partners. Overall, this aligns with our vision to build a more inclusive Hong Kong.

Who is involved?

Our model consists of a Review Committee made up of six diverse changemakers. All members are first-time grantmakers with grassroots backgrounds and personal experience related to the issues at hand or in serving marginalized groups.
